Halloumi sticks: a delicious vegetarian alternative for the grilling season

Halloumi Sticks Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 block of halloumi cheese (can be replaced with tofu)
- 1 egg
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- salt and pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp oregano
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
Salsa
- 1 ripe tomato, diced
- 2 tbsp tomato salsa
- 1 tbsp honey
- salt and pepper
- 1 clove of garlic, diced
- a handful of fresh coriander and parsley, diced
- 1/2 of our arugula microgreens seed pad, diced
preparation
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, mix the salsa ingredients over low heat. Let it cool in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Cut the block of halloumi lengthwise into equally sized strips and pat it dry with a paper towel.
- Place the flour seasoned with salt, pepper, paprika and oregano into three small bowls: the first bowl contains the beaten egg, the second bowl contains the panko breadcrumbs, and the third bowl contains the panko breadcrumbs.
- Coat the halloumi sticks in flour, then in the eggs, and finally in the panko breadcrumbs.
- Arrange the halloumi sticks on the baking sheet, making sure they don't touch. Bake for 10 minutes, then turn the sticks over and bake for another 10 minutes.
