Microgreen tea is rich in antioxidants and other health-promoting plant substances, tastes deliciously herbal, and can be prepared in just five to ten minutes.
Served hot or iced, tea is a refreshing drink that offers numerous health benefits. It helps with recovery from a cold, wakes you up in the morning, helps you fall asleep at night, and helps you concentrate throughout the day.
Enjoying tea brewed from microgreen leaves offers similar benefits to consuming the leaves themselves. Freshly picked leaves contain more nutrients than those picked a few days or even a week ago. They also have a rich flavor comparable to their mature counterparts, resulting in a delicious, aromatic tea.

Let the microgreens grow
Steeping the tea releases the flavor, aroma, and health benefits of the microgreens into the water. The longer the microgreens steep, the more nutrients are released. You can also steep your teas for an extra boost of antioxidants, but this can result in a bitter taste.
You can also add a lemon to your tea. Water with a low pH (acidic) supports more effective extraction of nutrients from the microgreen leaves than water with a high pH (alkaline). Most tap water has a neutral pH of around seven, so adding a slice of lemon to your tea can be beneficial.
Compared to preparing tea from tea bags, steeping loose tea leaves results in a better taste and aroma and can be used for more cups of tea.

How to brew microgreen tea
What you need:
- a jug or an electric watering hole
- Water (the amount of water to use depends on how much tea you want to drink; only 180-250ml are brewed at a time)
- tea strainer
- Microgreens
Directions :
- Boil the water on the stove or use a water pot.
- While you wait for the water to boil, harvest two 2 to 3 grams of fresh microgreens and measure them with a scale.
- If you don't have scales, this is roughly equivalent to ¼ cup, loosely packed.
- Rinse the microgreens with cold water.
- Place the microgreens in the tea strainer.
- Once the water boils, remove it from the heat and pour 180-250ml into the tea strainer. Let the tea steep for 5 to 8 minutes.
- If you would like a stronger tea, you can either add more microgreens or let it steep for longer.
- Optional: add a slice of lemon or a few drops of lemon juice.
- Pour off the water, add it to your cup and enjoy your tea!
- Repeat steps 5 and 6 for additional cups of tea.
- You can use the same microgreens for several cups of tea!
